Winery

Vinsacro is part of an ambitious project in the municipality of Pradejón, near Calahorra, at the heart of Rioja Baja. This château-style winery is located on an estate called Finca La Plana’, with the vineyard surrounding the building. The buildings are laid out around a Castilian courtyard.
The materials used in the construction of the winery were chosen with utmost respect for the surroundings, employing handmade bricks and natural stone. The native vegetation, typical of semi-arid areas, was chosen for the landscaping, using shrubs such as thyme and rosemary.
The barrel-ageing hall is naturally insulated thanks to the gardens that are strategically placed above it, to regulate the temperature without wasting energy.
Once the grapes have been selected at the crush pad, they are placed in movable buckets and transported to the fermentation tank where they remain for 10 to 15 days undergoing alcoholic fermentation, followed by another 15 days’ maceration. During fermentation, must-wine is taken every day from the bottom of the tank and poured in at the top, using buckets filled and emptied by gravity. This way, a great maceration is achieved.
Bodegas Vinsacro has 4,500 barrels —50% American oak, 40% French oak and 10% Romanian oak. The type of toasting applied to the barrels contributes to the personality of the wine.
The finest wines from the best vineyards are aged in the best selection of barrels to be used for the production of aged wines marketed with the ‘Vinsacro’, ‘Vinsacro Dioro’, ‘Vidau’ and ‘Arvum’ labels. They will remain in the barrel about 18 months until the winemaker determines they are mature and have achieved the perfect balance between fruit and wood.
